3 November 2014 - Ship-breaking industry workers in Bangladesh have been left without group insurance cover in spite of some recent fatal accidents, reports The Financial Express.

Lack of proper government inspections has left thousands of workers out of risk coverage.

Figures from a social development organization show that 500 deaths have been reported at over 75 breaking yards over the past decade.

An official at Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association said around 300 to 400 workers work in a company on an average, but most of them do not have coverage.
