For several years now, the NGO Shipbreaking Platform has been compiling lists of end-of-life ships sent for breaking every year. In 2012, the Platform compiled for the first time, next to the annual European companies sending end-of-life ships to beaching yards in South Asia, a complete list of all ships sent for breaking all over the world. Here is the complete list of all ships for 2014. A separate list for European ships (including Norwegian- and Swiss-owned, thus EFTA) is available in our library. Out of a total of 1026 ships dismantled globally in 2014, 641 – representing 74% of the total gross tonnage (GT) scrapped – were sold to substandard facilities in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
