Other names: Cote d’Azur (1981-1996), Renoir (1996-2011), Eastern Light (2011)
Current position: India
The SeaFrance Renoir and her sister ship the SeaFrance Cézanne both belonged to French company SeaFrance, a subsidiary of the national railway transport company SNCF. Both ships were sold in 2011 and sent to Indian shipbreakers in violation of the Basel Convention that prohibits the export of waste from developed nations to developing ones. The SeaFrance Renoir, renamed “Eastern Light”, left the port of Dunkirk on 20 September 2011.
